I miss being a kid. My only responsibilities were running around and laughing a lot.
ACADEMIC TOP 10 - TERM 4 (2015)
Congratulations to the following learners who all rank in the top 10 of their grades for the fourth term of 2015:
Well done to these learners and to all the other learners who were awarded their colours for their academic achievement in 2015.
DHS INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS
Our annual Interhouse Athletics meeting will be held on Friday, 29 January. All learners must wear the official sportswear which is available from Mrs Venter in the Sport Shop during breaks. We encourage all learners to take part in as many items as possible – not just for LO marks. Remember, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind!
On the 27th of January the traditional Fruit festival will be replaced by the Colour festival. This event is always a highlight on the school’s social calendar. The colour festival is compulsory for all Gr 8 learners. Tickets will be available from all prefects and at the entrance to the event. The price for entrance is R10 and this includes a bag of paint. Additional bags of paint and paint bombs can be bought from any prefect at the event. There will also be some surprises in store for those who attend.
As tradition dictates, the day of the festival must be celebrated with a social. The Colour festival social will be held on the evening of the 27th of January from 18:00. Tickets will be available from the prefects as well as at the door. There will however be only a limited amount of tickets available. Food will be sold at the social, so don’t stress about a hungry tummy. This event is compulsory for Gr 8’s.
Roses are red,
Detention will be held every Friday afternoon from the 22nd of January. Learners will report to the teachers on duty and will perform various tasks as decided by the teacher. Detention will take place from 13:00 until 15:00.
Please note that no late transport will be available to detention learners, and should your child miss a detention – you as parent or guardian are required to accompany them to school the following Monday to report to the principal.
Its Mudman and open water swimming season again! Please take note of these important dates below and ensure that you register timeously with Mrs Carter.
Insurance is available from the school which will assist you should your child be injured during sport or whilst representing DHS. Please enquire at the secretaries for more information.
